REYKJAVIK LITERALLY - A GUIDED WALKING TOUR IN ENGLISH
Every Thursday in July and August, starting at 17, the Reykjavík City Library hosts a walking tour in downtown Reykjavík where Icelandic literature, from the Saga period to newly published books, is introduced. Guests learn about the authors and the connection between text and place, with a bit of history mixed in. The guides are Úlfhildur Dagsdóttir, a literature scholar and a librarian and the actor Darren Foreman, who performs short scenes from novels and short stories and recites poems. Actress María Þórðardóttir is also a part of the team, doubling as either guide when necessary.
With readings ranging from Vikings to protests, stories of love and war and mysterious crimes, this is a fun introduction to Icelandic literature and the downtown area at an easy pace that suits everyone, and is free of charge.
In addition to this the walk can be booked for groups all year round. Minimum group size is 10 people and there is a charge of 25.000. More
